This week I am bringing together a whole host of designers to give you their ideas on design issues. Many of these folks are my Twitter buddies who I have met recently at Surface Design Show and Ecobuild.
Colour up your life with zingy walls.
March is finally here, and its time to put a spring back into your interior skills, its also the time of renewal, so give your walls a ‘Fresh New Look’ and brighten them up or make a bold statement in your home. Below are a few simple ideas on how to funk up your walls. Who says walls have to be boring! Not anymore with the latest key trends.
Zesty Yellow Walls
Yellow is most certainly the colour this spring. Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention grabber and its considered an optimistic color. It is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Did you know, yellow enhances concentration and speeds metabolism?
Yellow is not to everyone’s taste and its probably not the easiest shade in the palette to work into an interior scheme, but it’s a fantastic colour to uplift your spirits and energise if used properly.
Try Spring Breeze matt emulsion the latest trend by Dulux mixed with Grecian Spa for bathroom walls -as quoted by Louise Smith Dulux colour and Design Manager -“Yellow provides an alternative to the traditional blues and aqua.”
Fresh Botanical Walls
Spring trends this season have gone all botanical bringing beautiful flowers in from our gardens into our homes to give our walls a fresh new look, whilst florals have remained in fashion on feature walls for the past few years, this coming season the trends are light and easy to live with.
Pastel shades have made a huge comeback. No longer are floral’s and pastels identified with granny interiors but very much in vogue, if used correctly.
The key with this season’s botanical look is ‘less is more.’Try Sanderson Wallpapers -a great example of this seasons Botanical look is the Parchment Flowers design, within the collection there are nine wallpapers designed to co-ordinate perfectly with the print collection, from stunning ‘Etching & Roses’ or ‘Magnolia Emroidery’ to ‘sweet bay’
Graphic and Vibrant Wallpapers
I’m most certainly a big fan of feature walls that inject a little fun into a home or property its always great to find something a little different.
That is why I just love Turner Pocock Cazalet’s range of wallpapers What is so great about their wallcoverings is that each design is all hand drawn and built from a love of colour, composition and history from the origins of design. All things Stripe and Wonderful
Lines and stripes really do add a classic touch to any room, used in abundance they create regular colour block effect or make a rooms ceiling seem higher. Used Sparsely they can break up a rooms space visually or create a minimalistic look for your walls.
The new wallpapers come in bold in your face stripes or in subtle pastel palettes. Check out Laura Ashley Lille Linen collection a twist on the stripe wallpaper, durable paper backed vinyl wallcovering is extra washable and suitable for kitchens and bathrooms.
Its wide stripe design with pearlescent inks can complement a larger scale designed wallpaper or feature on its own.
